I recently heard it said that time is a thief. Ain’t that the truth. I may be a little emotional this month. After almost 20 years straight of kids in college, our youngest child Erin, Shenk6, is graduating this month. YAY to us for no more college payments, but time just passes too quickly. Let me take a minute. This kid was a junior at Wachusett when the world shut down due to Covid. She spent the next 14 months, until she graduated high school, schooling from home. Gym class doing pushups in the living room, attempting to take calculus while still in bed. It was a disaster.
Remember your senior year? Her graduating class of 2021 didn’t have one. The University of New Hampshire was a stretch for us, but after doing everything we could to maintain normalcy, having fostered kittens for the sake of mental health, we basically said screw it and agreed to UNH in order to hopefully set Erin on a good path, filled with hope. She powered through it and I’m SO proud that she found her place, made lifetime friends and is on a path to success (whatever her definition of that is), with (proud mom moment) a BA in Modern American History and minors in Political Science and International Security. According to her LinkedIn profile she’s relentless, reliable and innovative. I’ll give her that.
