I love a good garden tour. Every year I document a list of garden tours throughout Central Massachusetts and beyond. You can find that story here, but I’m calling out a specific, local and FREE garden tour opportunity very close to home–right in Princeton.
The Wachusett Garden Club has partnered with the Princeton Arts Society for a Garden & Art Studio Tour on Saturday, June 20, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., at 7 properties in Princeton. Some of the gardens will have local artists doing plein air painting on-site, and the art studio stops include a range of genres: watercolors, oils, pottery, stained glass, and jewelry. Art and plants will be available for purchase at many locations. There’s no set order, so you can visit all seven or just a handful — entirely up to you.
There will be donation jars at each stop, with the proceeds going toward covering the clubs’ costs. Neither organization is looking to make money on this — they just want you to come out and enjoy it.
What I like about the framing of this one is the idea of two types of beauty and how they overlap and inspire each other. The Princeton Arts Society is celebrating its 35th year and the Wachusett Garden Club its 40th — and the two organizations have been collaborating for years, with club members providing floral arrangements for the Princeton Arts Society’s annual Spring Show. This tour feels like a natural extension of that.
This is a rain-or-shine event. Maps and a home guide with property addresses are available at wachusettgardenclub.org.
