Recommended Professionals Spotlight: Fence Companies in Central Massachusetts

Jen Shenk Recommended Professionals Fence Companies

One of the most popular spots on my website is my Recommended Professionals resource page. I take this list of my recommended house related tradespeople and professionals pretty seriously, and have quietly removed companies from the list if I have a negative experience with one of them or if my readers chime in with the same. I’ve decided to highlight a category in each newsletter, and this month my Recommended Professionals Spotlight: Fence Companies in Central Massachusetts. They say fences make the best neighbors.

If you’re considering having a fence installed on your property, take a look at the reviews of the companies I’ve recommended below. Work with a company that is attentive to your property lines–knowing your property lines and your municipality’s bylaws about setbacks and height restrictions will save you agitation and money. *I say this because I’ve seen fences installed on the wrong side of a property line, and nobody is happy when that happens.

My current fence problem is invisible, but I’ll be very glad when it’s fixed. I can’t be too upset with Jay, because I’ve done this myself. Recently he was out back, pulling some saplings and vines out of an area in our backyard. When I came home, I could hear the telltale beeping in the garage that could only mean one thing. He somehow broke the invisible fence wiring that keeps our three dogs from wandering away from our yard. Now some people will say that their dogs would not pay attention to an invisible fence, but I’ve got two German shepherds in a Border Collie who never ever leave. Our house came with the invisible fence and even the collars, so it was a no-brainer for us to get them trained and use the existing setup as a way to contain them. I suspect now there are wireless options that also do the job. But our invisible fence has been containing our energetic dogs for almost 10 years now, so I’m a fan. Except when we accidentally snap the wire. We’re working on the dog-honor-system right now, waiting for the Invisible Fence people to come and find the break and repair it.

When it comes to my Recommended Professionals page, I’m pretty intense about only putting companies on my list that I’ve used myself, or that come highly recommended. I have only one fence company that I’ve worked with, and my fence is invisible, so I don’t know if you should listen to me. But my Recommended Professionals page has a new category called fence companies, and I’ve relied on client input, talking with people who have good looking fences and then by reading Google reviews. Always check the reviews and decide for yourself. I do keep a close eye, but I’m not the police of my Recommended Professionals.
