I love a good farm stand! I’ve driven by Sunset View Farm at 156 Gardner Road (Route 140) in Winchendon hundreds of times, but had never stopped in. Recently, while writing the Homemade Sourdough Bread Near Me story, I saw that they carried one of the local sourdough baker’s breads, so I decided to stop. I was so impressed by the selection! I left with peaches, mushrooms, patty pan squash, purple cauliflower and so many varieties of tomatoes. It’s nice to come across a place like this–where I’m excited about their products and I get to support a local business at the same time. I asked the owner, Adrienne, to send me some info on the farm. If you’re on Route 140 (between Winchendon and Gardner), you’ve got to stop in at Sunset View Farm! Here’s what she shared with me.
Welcome to Sunset View Farm: A Labor of Love Where Dreams Take Root! Hello there! My name is Adrienne, and alongside my husband James, we are the proud owners of Sunset View Farm, nestled in the charming town of Winchendon, Massachusetts. Over our 27 years together, we’ve not only built a family but also nurtured a dream that’s now flourishing on our farm.
Family is at the heart of everything we do. We’ve raised four wonderful children, ages 25 down to 3. While James is a skilled custom woodworker and I’m a dedicated hairdresser, our true passion has always been the land. Our hearts have always been drawn to it—to the idea of nurturing the land and, in turn, being nurtured by it.

For the past 15 years, James has poured his heart into regenerative farming and composting, striving to create healthy, nutrient-rich soil that grows the most delicious vegetables.
In 2022, we were blessed to purchase an established farm with a loyal customer base. Our vision? To transform it into a low-till, organic haven where our produce is not just food, but nourishment.

We believe in the power of good soil—soil that is alive, teeming with microorganisms that infuse our vegetables with the nutrients they need to truly nourish the body. As you might know, too many people today are well-fed but undernourished, largely because they’re consuming products, not real produce. This belief drives our mission: to heal the land, so that it, in turn, can heal us.
We’re on a mission to change the way people eat, one vegetable at a time! Especially in our area, which is known as a food desert. We practice succession planting, ensuring that we have a steady supply of fresh produce throughout the season. Our farmstand is stocked with more than just veggies—you’ll find jams, jellies, maple syrup, and flowers, all lovingly produced here on our farm. Through our partnership with Growing Places, we’re bringing fresh, nutritious vegetables to local schools, hospitals, and community centers.

Our journey hasn’t been without challenges. The loss of our parents, the impact of COVID, and welcoming a new baby at 40 made us realize that it was now or never to follow our dream. For us, farming is about more than just the land; it’s about waking up every day with purpose, spending time with those we love, and making a positive impact on our community.
Thank you for taking a moment to share in our story. We’re excited to see where this adventure leads us and to continue growing in faith—both as a family and as farmers. We can’t wait to share this journey with you!
“Therefore be patient, brethren, until the coming of the Lord. The farmer waits for the precious produce of the soil, being patient about it, until it gets the early and late rains.” — James 5:7 (NASB1995)
