Stephanie Hoefsmit: Central MA Local Author Profile

Some books are written for the whole world. Stephanie Hoefsmit wrote hers for her grandchildren. A Fitchburg mom of six grown children and grandmother of four, Stephanie wanted to remind the little ones in her life that there’s nothing to be afraid of in the dark, and plenty to enjoy in the world around them. The result is God Didn’t Make Monsters, a picture book published this year. Her next book follows the ladybugs and other small creatures that tuck themselves away for the winter. What follows is in her own words, lightly edited for consistency.

Stephanie Hoefsmit

Town: Fitchburg, MA

I am Mom to six grown children and four grandchildren. I love nature and drawing inspiration from it for stories and poetry. My two youngest children are twins and have special needs. The inspiration for my book came from my love for my family and nature.
