Newsletter Introduction: September 2025

Tomato plants

I’ll be honest, I’m really tired. The end of August/beginning September is always a lot for me. There’s the weeklong Labor Day Tennis tournament, and for decades it’s also been about packing up kids and getting them settled away at college. This is the FIRST YEAR since 2006 that we didn’t have someone going off/back to college.

Since Shenk6 (the youngest one) graduated in May, we no longer have college bills. We’ve been eagerly awaiting this day! Because of this, we were able to get our driveways paved–which was pretty exciting for us. Because we’re that kind of exciting.

I’ve got so many stories in this issue of my monthly newsletter…let’s see. Some reminiscing about public dances when I was a teenager, we now order our meats from Lilac Hedge Farm in Rutland (highly recommend!!), ABC–Avoiding Bad Contractors, that’s a wrap on Princeton’s Labor Day Tennis 2025, I wrote 10 Google reviews this month and why that matters, the Market Basket family drama continues, OMG did not expect this huge award, volunteering in your town, how to find the dog catcher and other municipal contacts where you live, selling in the Spring? Let’s get your exterior photos taken care of now, Ash-West Night for Academic Excellence, Princeton Touch A Truck, local business review: Davenport Paving, Jay writes about AI/money/our new digital world…and VERY POPULAR from last month was our deep dive in to our homeowners insurance, and of course, the local real estate market.

And the hanging tomatoes plant? That was for a story about why I’m not a farmer, but I guess that will have to wait until next month to be written. Those tomatoes look like they can hang on one more month.

I hope you enjoy this month’s newsletter.
