Welcome to the April 2026 issue of my free, local and fun monthly email newsletter!
Looking back on when I first started writing this newsletter in January, 2023, I don’t think I really had a direction I wanted it to go. It just felt really good for me to connect with people in a genuine way. I never imagined it would be something that people now tell me they look forward to receiving, that they share it with their friends and family, and they track back to me when they need any kind of resource or have a story idea. A few months ago I sent out a physical mailing to all of my house-related recommended tradespeople and professionals, which I keep on a page on my website that gets more hits than any other page on jenshenk.com.
I asked those local small business owners for feedback and ideas— I can’t come up with everything on my own! Out of that, I decided to do a monthly local small business profile—because not all business categories belong on a resource page for house related tradespeople and professionals.
I also decided to do a monthly recommended professionals category highlight. This month you’ll see a little story about fences, and then my fence company recommendations. I also want to do town shout-outs. Love where you live? Send me your favorite places in your town – – whether they are hiking trails or a gift shop, a restaurant or scenic overlook. I love that people use my website and stories to explore Central Massachusetts when they are considering moving here, and I appreciate that my readers are the experts in Central Mass.
You’ll see that my highlighted Google review below is from someone who I notarized documents for! I did not expect to get a Google review for that. If I’ve ever done anything for you that deserves a Google review, here’s the link! And if you ever need a notary, I’m very easy to find.
And the flowers in this photo above? I made that flower arrangement! For my mother’s birthday gift, we attended a flower arranging class held at the Westminster Cafe, put on by Kelly from Kelly’s Flower Brook Farm, one of my April 2026 local business profile stories.
