Well, I’ll be. We’re at the five-year anniversary of when Covid first shut down the schools— remember when we all thought it would just be a couple weeks until we got back to reality? I remember an exchange with my youngest daughter that March when she asked if we’re still in lockdown at Easter, can she be in charge of an Easter brunch. The ominous part was that she asked the same question the following year. And what better way to commemorate the 5 year anniversary of Covid that Jay and I got Covid just a few weeks ago, after a quick trip to visit my father and stepmother in The Villages in Central Florida. We spent about ten days at home, fully masked and with an abundance of caution, because our youngest son Adam was in the middle of his college finals. We pretty much each picked a room and hunkered down. I’m happy to report that we’re back at it now.
On a positive front, I’m pretty excited, because I’ve put a lot of time in the last several months into a complete rewrite of my website, and just published it this week! Why should you care? I get so many positive comments about my newsletter, but one of the things that really bothered me about the presentation of my newsletter was that people could not go onto my website and search for anything specific. That was manageable when I had 50 or so stories, but now with hundreds of stories, I want my site to be an actual resource. If you’re trying to remember details about town wide yard sales, burn permits, looking for the link to certified pre-owned vehicles, or sadly need to access my in-home pet euthanasia near me story in short order, you can just visit jenshenk.com/blog and search for key words right there. There’s also a sidebar menu on the right that displays the 10 most recently published stories. You can also browse by category–-SO many more options! Photo here is one of my favorite childhood books, still in my collection.
