I decided to surprise Jay with dinner reservations at Kennedy‘s Restaurant and Market in Marlborough, on the recommendation from a friend, two different friends actually! My plan was we would have dinner at Kennedy‘s and then explore the recently opened Lake Williams floating boardwalk just a few miles away.

Kennedy’s is American pub food, with both indoor and patio dining, open 7 days a week for breakfast, lunch and dinner. There was live acoustic guitar in the outdoor dining area, where dogs were allowed. When I called late morning for dinner reservations, the outdoor dining was already filled throughout the evening, so we sat inside. Here’s a link to their menus.

The place was hopping, and seemed to be full of a lot of people who knew each other, sort of like The Angler’s original vibe. I had limon chicken, and whipped potatoes, both were delicious. Jay had a lobster and shrimp special. He’s a bit of a seafood snob, and often doesn’t order it in an unknown restaurant, but our server Lindsay was great, and highly recommended it when he asked. He said it was the best seafood in a restaurant he remembers in recent history.

Kennedy’s is located at 247 Maple Street in Marlborough, MA 01752

After dinner we went to the Lake Williams Trail and Floating Boardwalk, which opened in May 2024. We intended to do the full 2 mile loop, but was almost 9pm by the time we got to the end of the floating boardwalk, going in to the woods that late at night to do the rest of the loop seemed ambitious, but it was a fun evening and we’ll go back to the boardwalk during the day at some point. Here’s a trail map.
Here’s a short video I made while on the floating boardwalk.
