About Fitchburg, Massachusetts

Fitchburg is an historic and interesting city,  with a population of approximately 42,000. Some neighborhoods consist of beautiful old mansions, while others are more middle class and very well kept. Some are close to Route 2, while others are closer to wooded hills and fields, and there’s protected Audubon land to the north of the city. Many of the old factories are still standing, converted to office space or spacious condominiums, located in many  cases along the Nashua River. There are a wide variety of restaurants, and the downtown area is experiencing something of a revival. No description of Fitchburg is complete without noting the landscape–Fitchburg is often referred to as the second most hilly city in the United States, second only to San Francisco.
