I just discovered a great clothing and shoe resource at D&D Liquidators in Sterling! If you know me, you know one of the things I’m not shy about is how much I hate shopping. I don’t even understand how people ‘go shopping’ as an activity. I typically get my clothes by either a once a year trip and then when I find something I like and I’ll buy it in every color and be done with it, or Jay will come home from Ocean State Job Lot with clothing he thinks I would like, and he’s usually right. Shoes are even worse, because I’m a size 11, and it’s very difficult to find shoes that don’t look like men’s.
Jay and I were out for a drive on a recent Sunday afternoon, taking my own advice and having ice cream for dinner. We’re going through the center of Sterling, and D&D liquidators, a store that I’ve been meaning to stop at, had a big OPEN flag out front. No time like the present!
D&D Liquidators is located at 33 Main Street in Sterling, in the lower level of a former church. The business is owned by David and Michelle Hutchins. They were so nice! They buy overstock merchandise, all new clothes (including formal dresses!), household items, gifts, purses, bedding, even toys and pet items. We stopped in because I was just curious about the store. My only other experience with a store like this was when I found a beautiful brand new bathroom vanity, so I had to check it out.
For someone who hates shopping, shopping for bathing suits is next level. I can’t imagine anyone actually really likes shopping for bathing suits, ever. But right in front of me at D&D Liquidators were so many very nice bathing suits, the type you would see at Macy’s, because that’s where they came from. I did try on about 10 bathing suits and bought the one that looked the least awkward on me.
Jay commented that I should write a story about the store, and while I was off taking photos, I found that they have a shoe section. And like some kind of opposite day, they had several size 11s! * That I actually liked! I couldn’t believe it. I ended up spending about $70– and for that I got a Calvin Klein bathing suit, a bathing suit cover-up, a pair of Steve Madden sandals, and some Clark’s slides.
We had such a nice visit with the store owners, and although it’s a small store, they’ve got it well organized, and so much to choose from. Check it out!
