Acclaimed composer, lyricist, and performer Amy Engelhardt is set to showcase her powerful one-act solo show, IMPACT, which promises to captivate audiences with its unique blend of music, storytelling, and multimedia elements.
IMPACT, written and performed by Engelhardt, features original music, video projections, and an intimate storytelling style that connects both global and personal narratives. The show shines a ray of hope on the best of humanity amidst tragedy, inspired by Engelhardt’s own journey to Lockerbie, Scotland, on the 30th anniversary of the Pan Am Flight 103 terrorist attack.
Engelhardt, a Syracuse University graduate, was compelled to tell this story after a series of stunning coincidences led her to Lockerbie in 2019. What began as a bucket-list trip evolved into a life-changing exploration of community, compassion, and kindness. The emotional heart of IMPACT is the story of Lockerbie resident Josephine Donaldson, for whom Engelhardt wrote the song “GIRL IN THE GARDEN.”
“I don’t do woo-woo,” says Engelhardt. “But in 2019, a series of thin moments and stunning coincidences led me to Lockerbie with two strangers. What started out as a bucket-list trip became a life-changing exploration of community, compassion, and kindness. There are no coincidences… only connections.”
IMPACT won the Jury Prize for Best Music/Score at the National Women’s Theatre Festival in Raleigh, NC and has been presented at the Edinburgh Fringe, Voila Festival (London), the Providence Fringe and Chicago Performing Arts Festival. The show is a testament to the power of human connection and the resilience of the human spirit and has garnered attention from major media outlets, including BBC News and the Chicago Tribune.
