Princeton Trails: Connection Opens between Mirick Road and Mountain Road

The Princeton Open Space Committee is pleased to announce the opening of a new trail, Mirick Trail, which connects Mirick Road (about 400 yards south of Beaman Road), to Mountain Road (about 200 yards south of the Echo Lake Trailhead). Look for the two new gates on the west side of Mirick Road.

This trail allows a walk through the woods between the lower roads east of the mountain and Wachusett Mountain Trail System and the Mountainside Cafe. There is also a loop over to East Wachusett Brook, at a spot where there is a nice cascade. The view in the spring when the water is high, is very nice!

The loop also passes near the site of an old mill, with interesting rock work.

There is not much parking on the lower side of the trail as this is intended for local walkers. The main trail is about 0.7 miles in length and the loop trail is about 0.3 miles. Bikes and ATVs are not permitted due to erosion concerns. Dogs are allowed.

Many thanks to John Mirick for the use of his property for this connector trail, and to several others for the building of the trail. We hope that Princeton residents on the Mirick, Beaman, and Willson Road areas will take advantage of this new trail.

With a nice walk along Mirick Road it is also a nice way to get to the mountain from Sterling and Merriam Roads.
